Hello all! Rob from Lookout Drive Games here! On behalf of Lookout Drive Games and the entire team that worked on this game, we sincerely hope you enjoy Portrait of a Texas Family. It is a game made with love, care, sensitivity, and compassion and we hope you all enjoy it and share it with your friends, your families, and your loved ones, whether they are cis, trans, etc.

We all knew we'd be diving into very sensitive, pointed subject matter touching upon current events that are happening in Texas (and really all across the U.S. and the world) and affecting trans folks and their families, especially trans kids. Our team's wonderful co-story writer, script editor and voice actor, Meredith Nudo, for Portrait, Meredith Nudo, is based in Houston, Texas and I have friends based in Texas as well. She and I talked a lot about how we can try to raise awareness of the transphobia happening in Texas, affecting trans people, trans children and the families raising trans children in gender affirming households.

A lot of people can't "just leave," can't just get up and move to a "blue" state. So many people are staying and fighting for their children which is how I came to know Amber Briggle and her family's fight to protect their trans child. Her tweet about the concept of a "safe folder" was incredibly eye-opening for a lot of people.  We highly recommend giving her a follow to keep up with the most recent news impacting transgender children in Texas.

Every single person who worked on this game did a tremendous job and I'm going to list all of them below while linking to their socials. It goes without saying but if you're working on a project, hire these people! 

Whether it was helping create many variations of character sprite art for a customizable character creator, shaping and programing said character creator, designing and coloring lovely backgrounds, composing a peaceful, moving original score, casting and directing voice actors from all around the world remotely, or designing and mastering every line of audio and sound effect, the team that made this game worked their butts off for a month to get it done.
